O Processo Criativo destas Peças Cerâmicas

A produção destas peças cerâmicas, inspiradas na exuberância das espécies selvagens, é uma jornada artística e técnica que reflete cuidado e dedicação em cada etapa. O processo começa na roda de oleiro, onde as formas iniciais são cuidadosamente erguidas. Seja uma jarra ou um candeeiro, cada peça começa como um bloco bruto de argila que é transformado, através do movimento e do controlo das mãos, num corpo gracioso e orgânico.

Para dar vida aos detalhes únicos que remetem à natureza, como barbatanas, bicos ou asas, esses elementos são modelados à parte, um a um, com a precisão que cada peça exige. Posteriormente, esses adornos são habilmente colados ao corpo principal, criando uma fusão perfeita entre forma e detalhe. Esta fase do processo é fundamental, pois define o carácter da peça e a sua personalidade única, evocando as características das criaturas selvagens que servem de inspiração.

A partir das várias tentativas, seleciono a peça mais harmoniosa e perfeita. Com essa escolha, criamos um molde para facilitar a reprodução da forma, sem perder a originalidade e o toque artesanal de cada réplica. Apesar desta técnica de moldagem, cada peça mantém a sua singularidade, graças ao trabalho manual detalhado que segue.

Após a modelação, as peças passam pelo meticuloso processo de pintura à mão com engobes, onde utilizo uma paleta de cores vivas e vibrantes que atribuem uma essência carismática e alegre a cada peça. Além disso, crio texturas únicas através de técnicas como estampagem, respingos e pinceladas ousadas, garantindo que não haja duas peças iguais. Este trabalho artístico manual garante que cada peça tenha a sua combinação exclusiva de padrões e cores, tornando-a verdadeiramente única.

Em seguida, as peças vão à primeira cozedura (chacota), uma etapa crucial para fixar a forma e os engobes. Depois desta fase, as peças são cuidadosamente vidradas para obter o acabamento final, que além de embelezar, protege a cerâmica. Após a aplicação do esmalte, as peças são submetidas a uma segunda cozedura em alta temperatura, garantindo durabilidade e brilho ao resultado final.

No caso dos candeeiros, o processo é finalizado com a montagem manual dos componentes eléctricos, utilizando fios vintage que complementam o design rústico e natural das peças, resultando em criações que aliam funcionalidade e arte.

The Creation Process of these Ceramic Pieces

The production of these ceramic pieces, inspired by the wild beauty of animal species, is an artistic and technical journey that reflects care and dedication at every stage. The process begins on the potter’s wheel, where the initial shapes are carefully raised. Whether it's a vase or a lamp, each piece starts as a raw block of clay, transformed through the motion and control of the hands into a graceful and organic form.

To bring to life the unique details reminiscent of nature, such as fins, beaks, or wings, these elements are individually sculpted, one by one, with the precision each piece demands. Later, these adornments are skillfully attached to the main body, creating a seamless fusion of form and detail. This stage of the process is crucial, as it defines the character of the piece and its unique personality, evoking the characteristics of the wild creatures of which they were inspired. 

From several attempts, I select the most harmonious and perfect piece. Using this selection, we create a mold to facilitate the reproduction of the shape, while retaining the originality and artisanal touch of each replica. Despite this molding technique, each piece maintains its uniqueness, thanks to the detailed handwork that follows.

After modeling, the pieces go through the meticulous process of hand painting with underglazes, where I use a palette of bright and vibrant colors that gives a charismatic and joyful essence to each piece. Additionally, I create unique textures through techniques like stamping, splattering, and bold brushstrokes, ensuring that no two pieces are alike. This artistic manual work guarantees that each piece has its own exclusive combination of patterns and colors, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

After painting, the pieces are fired for the first time (biscuit firing), a crucial step to set the shape and the engobes. Next, they are glazed to give them a glossy finish that protects the ceramic. The pieces are then fired a second time at high temperatures, ensuring their durability and enhancing the colors and textures applied.

For the lamps, the process is completed by manually assembling the electrical components, using vintage-style wires that complement the rustic and natural design of the pieces, resulting in creations that blend functionality with art.

Each piece that comes from our studio carries the richness of nature's details, the expressiveness of vibrant colors, and the technical precision of artisanal ceramics. The result is unique vases and lamps, full of personality, bringing a touch of the wild beauty of the natural world directly into your space.
